Annual General Meeting (AGM)

AIM's AGM takes place each year in June or July, and provides an excellent opportunity for members to find out what AIM has achieved in the previous year, and to contribute ideas to AIM's future agenda.
One of the items of formal business at AIM's AGM is the voting for the Board elections (by secret ballot).  One fifth of the Board resigns each year (by rotation) - company directors of a full 'label' member can put themselves forward for nomination.  Preferably with several years' experience in the industry and having political lobbying experience.

AIM's 2012 AGM took place on 6th July at Glaziers Hall in London and as usual was well attended by AIM Members, 'Friends of AIM' and industry guests.
The four board members that retired under the normal rotation rules were Iain McNay - Cherry Red Records, Trevor McNamee - Jalapeno Records, Safta Jaffery - Taste Music and Julie Weir - Visible Noise plus the resignation of Martin Goldschmidt - Cooking Vinyl left five vacancies on the AIM Board.

The keynote interview format was introduced last year and was very well received – it’s a more relaxed session which our members and guests enjoy. This year Robert Levine (author of Free Ride) was in conversation with Ben Watt (founder of Buzzin’ Fly, half of Everything But The Girl and AIM Board Member).

2010 AGM

2010 saw AIM's AGM coincide with our annual digital music trade event, Music Connected. In the midst of the campaign to save BBC 6Music, AIM was lucky to have 6Music presenter and Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker give a presentation to the membership.

2009 marked AIM's 10th anniversary, and to celebrate we held an AGM that was somewhat out of the ordinary.  We invited all members to submit their 'Big Ideas' for the next 10 years of AIM, which members then voted on to select those which would become part of AIM's manifesto for the next 10 years.
